What Customers Say About Stellar Fungk: The Best of Slave:

I bought it with a Zapp & Roger compilation, and I liked the Zapp and Roger much more. It won't be in my cd player anytime soon.

But suffice it to say, thumbs down. Maybe this disc deserves more than one star.

There may be a few classics that you want to put on your ipod, but all in all it is a weak endeavor. I am a fan of the funk and like Bootsy, Parliament, Ohio Players, etc.

This funk just didn't do it for me. Just not that funky or inspired.

Granted, the artists are covering different territories, but Zapp hits the mark where Slave left me unimpressed.

This is an excellent best of Slave as well as featuring some of Steve Arrington's solo songs. If you are a Slave fan, you will appreciate this purchase.

The product purchased in this instance: Stellar Fungk: The Best of Slave was received within the timeframe promised and was a new, in-package product. This buying experience with Amazon was easy, expedient, professional, and no money transaction problems, making this experience a pure pleasure. No scratches, no breakages and played fine. The product is being thoroughly enjoyed. Since I am a returning customer (bought books the first time around), I do expect to do business with Amazon.com again. Highly suggest buying books and music from Amazon.com.Thanks,MG

All in all this is a great place to get into Slave, and especially the man known as Steve Arrington. This CD also features moments from the fore mentioned Steve Arrington's Hall of Fame, Vol.

1 and his now hard to get Steve Arrington Hall Of Fame, positive power. I discovered Slave in the early 90's after devouring Steve Arrington's Steve Arrington's Hall of Fame, Vol.

I defy you not to like 'Watching You', which was inspired by the band checking out the ladies in Central Park. I have to confess that being a total nut for all things Stevie, the cuts that stand out for me have him to the fore.

Songs like' Snap Shot (with it's stop/start bass, electric, it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up) Wait for me (with it's lovely string arrangement) the classic over sampled 'Touch of Love', (which also features the vocal talents of, what would later be known as Aurra (& much later Deja). But there are other toons where Steve shares the funk:' Stone Jam, (even through Steve, brings it on that tune). 1 , 'Nobody Can Be You', 'Weak At The Knees', and the classic ' Way Out'.

I would also recommend:Stone Jam as an ideal starting point for other Slave CDs.

I'm giving this compilation a 4 because there are a few tracks that I like that aren't included. Other than that this is a great comp by Slave
